The Purgation – Coming soon in 2014

When I moved to Los Angeles, my original goal was to direct my own film.

And, now, finally, after years of prep work, I’m almost there! I’ve finished a script – a screenplay I spent a year developing with a writing’s group. The story is a psychological horror with elements of Japanese and Korean horror films like The Ring and Old Boy.

I’ve assembled a team of professional crew members that I’ve previously worked with on set, and therefore trust that they’ll always have my back. And I have a creepy asylum location that I’m excited to start dressing with blood. But, I need to raise the bare minimum needed to make sure this independent project can meet studio standards.

So, in addition to applying to grants, I’ve started an Indiegogo campaign:

Please donate if you believe in the power of independent cinema. If you value seeing a diverse cast onscreen. If you value getting more women BEHIND the camera and in charge of the stories that we see.

Every dollar helps make sure we can have a safe and professional environment to work in. The bulk of the money we raise will go towards location rental fees, legal fees, and insurance because almost everyone working on this project is donating their time and talents for the love of film, for the chance to make a movie with strong female characters and a compelling horror story that doesn’t exploit women.

Even if you can’t donate at this time, just spreading the word and sharing the link is much appreciated, because getting exposure is key to reaching our fundraising goal.

Thank you.  Better together.
