2018 reflection
Highlights from the year of the Dog!
My improv team Consenting Adults won 2nd Place at the Westside Comedy House Team Tournament! Pleased that tickets sales from all our shows went towards a great cause, The Good Shepherd Shelter of Los Angeles.

Worked on a Jimmy Kimmel video with the always funny and friendly Guillermo. First time as a foot model showcasing Old Navy’s summer flip flop line!

Got to be a a principal in a Bank of America shoot. I normally don’t wear suits, but I love getting styled in them! Also shot some Funny or Die spots with Dockers and Dos Equis.
I directed a short film with Great Hair Productions that’s currently crushing it on our festival run. Both our lead actors won Best Acting Awards, and the film won the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival!

I’m slowly building up more of a social media influence and even did a few style collabs! Here I am modeling a dress for XOmandysue:
I also wrote a play that premiered at The Lee Strasberg Theater.

And finally, I got new headshots, and enjoyed several amazing audition opportunities through my amazing management team and agency.
A lot to be grateful for, something I need to remind myself whenever I feel like I’m not booking enough or that I’m not where I think I should be. Wishing you all happiness and success in 2019. Onward!
new short film has its Philly premiere!
This is the first time someone’s called my film a romantic horror movie…. 🙂

Comedy Champions!
For the time first time ever, I’ve been part of a team that won the Westside Comedy House Team Tournament. So proud and happy to play with Consenting Adults. I love these guys, and I think that’s the secret to our success – that we care for each other and truly make the effort to raise each other up onstage and in real life. To do good improv: just be a good person, say what you mean, find the truth… and the comedy will come.

lucky cat festival run
My short film Maneki-neko won best comedy at the Post Alley Film Festival! I had a wonderful time in this lush, green city. From Pike Place Market to the Underground Tour, I was lucky to pack plenty of sight-seeing into my weekend trip. As far as film festivals go, Post Alley is by far one of the best organized and curated ones I’ve attended so far as a filmmaker. I was especially impressed with the general attendance. Festival director Virginia Bogert made sure every film had an audience, so I didn’t have to stress about promoting ticket sales in addition to just getting myself to the venue. Had a lovely Q&A afterwards, and got to attend a nice wine & cheese reception where more audience members approached me with questions about my weird little cat drama.
Maneki-neko will be available online soon. In the meantime, here’s a pic of our lead actress, Butter:

Here I am excited to see Miranda July (she wasn’t actually there, but what a cool poster!)

And here’s Seattle in all her glory.

new year, new news!
2017 is off to a good start. My short film Maneki-neko, which I wrote and I directed, just got accepted into its first film festival. You can catch this cute ‘lil movie about a lovesick cat who becomes human at the Seattle Post Alley Film Festival.
In comedy news, my improv team Consenting Adults won second place at the Westside House Team Tournament. I’m so proud of this team and look forward to our third year of performing together. Also, my indie improv team Great Personality is doing a show at the Hollywood Improv Festival, and my sketch team Goldie has put together an hour long special of our best material to hit the stage January 25th at Westside Comedy!
My current project is to update my acting reel. Additionally, I’ll be honing my craft at the Annie Grindlay Studio. I look forward to more opportunities with BMG Talent and Puddle Management. In the meantime, you can catch me singing my heart out on the new web series Karaoke Divas.
Finally, this past election was devastating to me, but I’ve been channeling my frustration into art and organization. I was honored to Assistant Direct a PSA for the Woman’s March to Washington. I also marched with my fellow Film Fatales directors through downtown LA to protest the current state of affairs. It felt great to be surrounded by other creatives who are also fighting for a better future.
That’s all for now! Thanks for stopping by. I wish you all a wonderful year filled with love and success.
xo,
Elaine

Second City!
Had a fun time performing at Second City’s Diversity in Comedy Festival! My team Great Personality is so diverse, Comedy Central tells everyone that we’re friends.
